Using the platform
Written for somebody doing this for the first time, and for the person in the family who ends up doing it for everybody else.
If you are a member
- Find your Samaj in the directory and check who the President is.
- Register with an email address or a phone number.
- Follow your region's events and announcements on its page.
- If you want a matrimonial profile, start it from your account and work through the six steps. It saves as you go.
Doing it for a relative
Common, and fine. Register in their name and with contact details they actually answer, because verification updates and accepted interests go there. The photo ID has to be theirs, and the introduction reads better in their words than in yours.
Do not share one account between two people looking for a match. Interests, blocks and contact release all belong to one profile, and two people behind one profile means somebody gets a phone call they were not expecting.
Photographs that work
- Recent, and clearly you. Not a group photo as your primary.
- Faces visible, not sunglasses or a distant shot.
- One photograph of your family, which is what families look at.
- JPEG, PNG or WebP, under 10 MB each. Most phones export something smaller.
If you are on a committee
Your President can give you a seat with only the grants you need. A treasurer who should see payments does not need to open identity documents, and the platform enforces that rather than trusting anybody to be careful.
- Events and announcements stay drafts until somebody publishes them.
- Everything you do is recorded with your name.
- You can only ever act on your own region. Another Samaj's members are not visible to you at all.
