What we check, and who sees it
A matrimonial profile does not appear in search until somebody has confirmed that the person behind it is real and belongs to the Samaj. Here is exactly how that is done.
What is checked
Two things, and only two.
- Identity. That the photograph on a government issued photo ID is the person on the profile, and that the name matches the account.
- Community membership. That this person, or their family, belongs to the Samaj they have chosen.
Verification is not an assessment of character, suitability or worth. Nobody is being asked to approve of a marriage. A verified badge means somebody checked a document, and nothing more.
Who reviews it
The President of the lowest Samaj you belong to, or a platform reviewer where a region has no sitting President. Both hold the same narrow permission, and both are recorded.
A reviewer is never named to the member. If a request is refused, you are told what to fix and not who decided it, because a volunteer President declining a neighbour's profile should not be identifiable from the refusal.
A reviewer who should not decide a particular request, because they are related to the family or because there is a dispute, passes it to the platform instead of deciding it.
What happens to your document
Straight to a private store
It goes from your browser straight to a private store. It never passes through the website, and it has no public address.
Viewed watermarked, never downloaded
A reviewer sees a watermarked image, not your file. It cannot be downloaded, and the link they are given expires in about a minute.
Every view recorded
Every single view is recorded with the reviewer's name, the time and their address. If nobody can be recorded, no view is allowed.
Never shown to members
Not in search, not on your profile, ever.
Deleted after 30 days
It is deleted 30 days after your profile is approved.
What appears on your profile
That you were verified, by which Samaj, and on what date. Not the document, not its number, not your date of birth. Other members see your age, not the day you were born.

Write to help@ranasamaj.org. If you believe a reviewer saw your document when they should not have, say so: the record of who opened it exists precisely so that question can be answered.
